1) Designate a particular workspace

Research has shown that having a dedicated workspace is one of the most critical factors in maintaining productivity while working from home. If you can, set up a specific area in your house or apartment that will be used solely for work. This will help to train your mind to associate that space with productivity and focus. Of course, not everyone has the luxury of extra space, but try to do what you have. Even if it’s just a corner of your bedroom or kitchen table, having a designated work area will make a difference.

2) Take breaks and go outside

Although staying focused while you’re working is essential, taking breaks is also important. Go for a walk around the block or make yourself a cup of tea. Stepping away from your work every once in a while will help you to avoid burnout and stay refreshed. Just be sure not to take too many breaks, or you’ll never get anything done!

3) Customize your environment

Despite popular belief, you don’t need complete silence to be productive. Some people work better with background noise. If you fall into this category, try working in a coffee shop or listening to music while you work. However, if you prefer complete silence, that’s perfectly fine too. This is just a matter of preference, so do whatever makes you most comfortable.

4) Listen to music

Whenever I need to focus, I put on some classical music. It helps me to block out distractions and get into a flow state. However, everyone is different. Some people prefer to listen to upbeat while they work, and others prefer complete silence. However, if you find that music helps you to focus, make sure to put together a playlist of songs that won’t distract you.

5) Keep regular hours

In an office setting, it’s easy to stick to a regular work schedule. But when you’re working from home, it can be tempting to work whenever you feel like it. However, this is not a good idea! Setting regular hours for yourself and sticking to them as best as possible is essential. This will help to create a healthy work-life balance and prevent you from burning out.
